This whitepaper represents a collaborative effort by the education and diversity directors of NSF Science and Technology Centers (STC). Itaddressesthe best practices of incorporatingeducation and diversity;forming aresource thatSTC's canutilize. All 14 active STCs were invited to complete the 24-question survey. Ten centers (71%) responded. The raw data was coded and key themes were identified, which were then synthesized into thebestpractices.Some of the listed best practices include: developing programs that encourage a diverse set of people to participate,communication, team building, providing numerous leadership opportunities to graduate students and post-docs, proper assessment of the programs ensuring the goals are met, forming strong relationships with partners and sponsors, and actively participating in STC leadershipactivities.Overall, various STC's will benefit greatly from this shared knowledge, and it will help them reach their goals.This paper was presented at the February 2014STCeducation and diversity directors' workshop in Cleveland.
